Kristen Zaramo

About Me

Kristen Zaramo was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1983 but grew up in the small Northeastern Ohio town of Mantua.  She began writing short stories and poetry at the age of eleven. Her works quickly transformed from whimsical romance focused stories into spine tingling young adult novels. Terrified after reading her first Goosebumps and FearStreet books by R.L. Stine, she realized writing works that truly evoked a fear response was what she wanted to do.

Her first work entitled At Night, was a short story written completely by hand that revolved around a group of teens that, after sneaking out and breaking into a local business witness a gruesome murder. Afraid to tell their parents or the police about what they saw, they remain quiet, that is until they realize that while they weren't able to fully see and identify the killer that night, he saw them, and is coming for them one by one. This book was the first in a long line of teen horror stories from Kristen that centered on a teen slasher theme; and it would go on to be adapted into a full novel and re-titled Mischief Night

After writing three additional novels (What are Best Friends For?, I Thought I Knew You, Terror in Aspen) Kristen decided to major in fiction writing while attending Kent State University. But to her disappointment they did not offer a degree in creative or fiction writing, so she settled on a Journalism and Communications major instead.  In the three years she attended KSU from 2001-2004 she wrote an additional three novels; Passion, her first romance novel, Betrayal the first novel with a male protagonist, and Sacrifice her first supernatural work. she also wrote as a dating and relationship columnist for The Kent State newspaper giving young adults like herself guidance with such topics as juggling dating and school as well as infidelity and unrequited love.

Unable to obtain the degree she truly desired Kristen left KSU in pursuit of an education that better suited her needs. She continued writing and completed five additional novels including Already Gone, her first psychological thriller, her first trilogy comprising of Rise to Fame, Keep Your Friends Close, and Fall from the Top, and lastly Worthy her first period piece set in 1956. After the completion of these works she made the decision to find a school that offered courses that aligned with her goals. She soon found a new higher learning home at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH. There she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Creative Writing and English with a dual minor in Fiction and Screen Writing, graduating in 2017.

Since publishing her debut novel Spellbound; Kristen has currently been working on her second book America's Sweetheart; as well as the first book in her new upcoming YA Horror series Hallows End.

Kristen is an avid horror movie lover with some of her favorites being A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, and Scream. She also loves to swim and read. To coincide with her love of horror, her favorite holiday is Halloween and she often decorates her home with so many over the top Halloween decorations that she has become known by her neighbors, co-workers, friends, and family as the Queen of Halloween.
