On Writing

1Know Your Story Inside and Out

A simple concept does not a story make. It must consist of a beginning, middle, and an end (if you are writing horror, make sure you have the fourth, and most important part, the Twist!)

2Plot and Outline

Map out your story including all pivotal and important moments. Also know your message. What is it you are tying to say? What do you want people take away from your story?

3. Develop Detailed Characters

Creating individuals that the reader can relate too is crucial to connecting with your audience.

4Know your Audience

Knowing who you are directing your writing toward will help with the voice of your story. You would not write a book geared towards children in the tone of an adult work.

5.. Know Your Reason

Why are you writing? Who are your writing for? Is it a hobby or possibly a career for you? Knowing exactly why you are choosing to write, will help you to dedicate time and potential career path.

6Read,Read,Read

Part of writing is also reading. Read as much as you can. Read books within your specific genre as well as works outside of it. It helps keeps you well versed in what is being published in the Market.

7Know Your Reason

Why are you writing? Who are your writing for? Is it a hobby or possibly a career for you? Knowing exactly why you are choosing to write, will help you to dedicate time and potential career path.

8Lastly, Just Keep Writing
-

No matter the road blocks that lie ahead, never stop writing. Set aside a certain amount of time per day or per week that you devote strictly to writing. Remember, you do not have to be published to be a writer, but you do have to write.

-Wishing you an abundance of creativity,

XO
